Bengkung Belly Binding is a traditional postpartum healing method that originated in Malaysia. A long, breathable strip of fabric is thoughtfully wrapped around the body from hips to ribcage to help support the postpartum body as it recovers and settles into its new normal. At East End Holistics, we use 100% Cotton muslin in a 9 inch by 16 yard length.

The Bengkung works by providing gentle support to the hips which can feel unstable in the first few weeks postpartum as the relaxin hormone leaves the body. It supports the core muscles which need time to reconnect to the postpartum body and it helps bring the ribs back in to their normal alignment. Bengkung is applied from the hips upward providing a gentle lift to the uterus and organs off the pelvic floor.
